Attempt Details

Team Linea Rossa, who built this portal, set out with a 7-person crew aboard the MAT 1180 racing yacht to break the Türkiye Tour record in the team category. On their first attempt, begun on 22 May 2025, they passed the Sinop and İstanbul Strait checkpoints ahead of the standing record time, but on 27 May 2025 at 22:09, near Marmara Island, the attempt was ended due to persistent adverse weather. Under Turkish Sailing Federation rules the team has two attempts remaining.

Attempt Details

A 9-person TSK Sports team from the National Defence University Naval Academy and the Naval Forces Command — three of them Naval Academy cadets — set sail from Hopa toward İskenderun on 13 September 2024. Caught in a 45-50 knot storm off Samsun that damaged the boat's rigging, the team had to withdraw from the record attempt on 15 September.

Attempt Details

This attempt began on 1 June 2023 from Hopa Port. The crew aimed to cross Türkiye's four seas using sail power alone, without an engine and without outside assistance. Targeting İskenderun Port over the roughly 1,500-nautical-mile route, the crew could not complete the record attempt due to various difficulties.
